Camden County reports first COVID-19 related death

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - Albemarle Regional Health Services reports its first coronavirus related death in Camden County.

According to ARHS, the individual was over 65-years-old and died from complications from COVID-19.

Officials say to protect the family's privacy, no further details regarding the patient will be released.

“As we enter another month in this COVID pandemic response, unfortunately, this death reminds us that the end is far from over. My thoughts go out to this family and all others impacted by this illness,” said R. Battle Betts, Jr., Health Director. “It is important we stay the course and do all we can to minimize the impact on our communities and most vulnerable by wearing a cloth face covering, maintaining physical distance of at least six feet, and practicing good hand washing. We cannot let our guard down.”

ARHS is continuing to ask the community to be mindful in practicing preventive and safety measures, such as wearing a face masks in public.
