CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A Chesapeake rehab facility reports 16 cases of coronavirus including staff members.

The Southeastern Virginia Training Center says five individuals and 11 staff members have tested positive for coronavirus.

The individuals were tested as a precaution and are still asymptomatic, but are being monitored extremely closely, according to SETVC officials.

SEVTC is broken into 15 homes with about five people living in each.

The staff and individuals who tested positive are all in one home.

No other individuals in other homes on the campus have tested positive, SETVC says.

The facility says it is working closely with the health department to implement an aggressive plan for infection control, and for isolation for potential positive cases.

Methods of precaution the facility is taking includes:
· Temperatures are taken of all staff to ensure they are not running a fever and self-quarantine is mandated for any staff who had to take a test for COVID-19.
· Infection control measures have been implemented, such as providing anti-bacterial soap and products to patients and staff, issuing facemasks to staff and residents as medically indicated, increasing cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces, and ordering additional cloth facemasks to ensure all staff and patients are as protected as possible.
· All staff caring for patients with COVID-19 or symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are provided full personal protective equipment.
· Non-direct care staff may wear their own masks per recent federal guidance.
