The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving COVID-19 cases within the state.
As of Thursday, there are now 289,204 PCR positive cases and 14,250 antigen positive cases, 1,279 people hospitalized and 4,706 COVID-19 related deaths.
That is 2,680 new PCR cases, 213 new antigen cases and 8 additional deaths from Wednesday.
A total of 4,486,524 total COVID-19 tests have been completed in North Carolina.
Dare County reported its highest case increase yet, with 21 cases reported since Wednesday. Seven positive cases were discovered in Dare County schools, and more than 200 people are being asked to quarantine.
Thursday also marked North Carolina's highest PCR case increase, topping Wednesday's record.
