Hampton Roads restaurant closes dining room after spike in local COVID-19 cases

HAMPTON ROADS Va. - Due to the spike in positive COVID-19 cases in the Hampton Roads area, Pelons Baja Grill has decided to close all dining rooms and return to curbside and delivery only.

Pelons Baja Grill is a Californian style Mexican restaurant that has three locations including two in Virginia Beach and one in the Ghent area in Norfolk. In an Instagram post, the restaurant said one of their biggest concerns was that people were not following their strict face covering policy.

On Friday Hampton Roads made up 41% of total Virginia daily COVID-19 cases rise.

As of Friday, Norfolk has had 3,180 COVID-19 cases, 168 people hospitalized for the virus and 24 COVID-19 related deaths. Virginia Beach has had 4,055 cases, 200 people hospitalized, 45 deaths.
