The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.
According to their website, there are now 101,745 total cases, 97,712 of which are confirmed and 4,033 are probable. There are 2,344 total coronavirus related deaths, with 2,232 being confirmed and 112 being probable. The case numbers are up by 996, and deaths are up by 17 since Monday.
A total of 1,267,512 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia. Hampton Roads and its surrounding cities reported 258 new cases, 24 hospitalizations and 17 new deaths from Monday. Our viewing area made up roughly 26% of Virginia's daily increase.
The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Monday, there are 866 people currently being hospitalized for confirmed coronavirus. There are 427 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 1,293 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 42 more hospitalizations from Monday.
The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 8,458.
280 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.
148 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 615 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,622 in the state - that's 20% usage.
13,152 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
