The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.
According to their website, there are now 86,994 total cases, 83,732 of which are confirmed and 3,262 are probable. There are 2,095 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,991 being confirmed and 104 being probable.
The case numbers are up by 922, and deaths are up by 13 since Monday.
Portsmouth reported the highest local daily increase of 76 cases from Monday, a record high report for the city. Locally, there were 283 new cases, 13 additional hospitalizations and 4 deaths counted for in Tuesday's number.
The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Tuesday, there are 858 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 436 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. Combined, there are 1,294 people currently being hospitalized for illness related to coronavirus.
261 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.
153 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 640 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,049 in the state - that's 21% usage.
11,550 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
