N.C. daily positive COVID-19 cases continue to surpass 1K as total tests given goes up by 4,327 since Monday

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving coronavirus cases within the state.

As of Tuesday, there are now 64,670 cases, 908 people hospitalized and 1,343 coronavirus related deaths.

That is 1,186 new cases and 18 additional deaths from Monday.

A total of 910,033 tests have been completed in North Carolina.

On Monday 14,349 completed daily tests were reported and on Tuesday 18,676 daily tests were reported. This is a big jump in testing, up 4,327 from Monday.

In a press conference Monday, officials announced that all residents and all staff in nursing homes across North Carolina will be tested for COVID-19. The effort will go through August.
