North Carolina reports 2,247 new COVID-19 cases; Northampton County reports highest local increase

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

As of Thursday, there are now 231,362 cases, 1,140 people hospitalized and 3,831 COVID-19 related deaths.

That is 2,247 new cases, 12 fewer hospitalizations and 18 additional deaths from Wednesday.

101 cases were reported in local areas, with Northampton County reporting the highest increase of 41 cases.

A total of 3,493,186 total COVID-19 tests have been completed in North Carolina.

Gov. Roy Cooper will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. Thursday to discuss the state's COVID-19 response.
