Only Hampton Roads city with triple digit COVID-19 daily case increase was Norfolk as Commonwealth saw 844 total new cases

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 81,237 total cases, 78,182 of which are confirmed and 3,055 are probable. There are 2,054 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,951 being confirmed and 103 being probable. The case numbers are up by 844, and deaths are up by 3 since Wednesday.

A total of 969,145 testing encounters have happened in Virginia as of Thursday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Thursday, there are 801 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 417 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 257 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

136 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 679 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,077 in the state - that's 22% usage.

10,479 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

There are now 14,337 total COVID-19 cases in the Hampton Roads and surrounding areas with a rise of 320 cases from Wednesday.

Norfolk was the only city to see a triple digit case increase with 100 since Wednesday.

  • Chesapeake 1,867 cases, 179 hospitalized, 24 deaths (+17 cases, +3 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Accomack 1,059 cases, 76 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+2 cases, +0 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Northampton 289 cases, 44 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+4 cases, +0 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Hampton 786 cases, 46 hospitalized, 4 deaths (+14 cases, +3 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Norfolk 2,489 cases, 152 hospitalized, 20 deaths (+100 cases, +3 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • James City County 471 cases, 59 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+7 cases, +0 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Newport News 1,308 cases, 69 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+32 cases, +4 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Poquoson 30 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases, +0 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Williamsburg 99 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+2 cases, +0 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • York County 243 cases, 14 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+6 cases, +1 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Portsmouth 1,115 cases, 107 hospitalized, 21 deaths (+30 cases, +4 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Gloucester 115 cases, 12 hospitalized, 1 death (+3 cases, +1 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
  • Virginia Beach 3,030 cases, 174 hospitalized, 39 deaths (+62 cases, +4 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
