Several local cities see double digit increases of coronavirus cases in a day, Suffolk reports additional death

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 54,886 total cases, 52,460 of which are confirmed and 2,426 are probable. There are 1,552 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,444 being confirmed and 108 being probable. The case numbers are up by 380, and deaths are up by 6 since Sunday.

A total of 530,432 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Monday, there are 643 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 259 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 269 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

130 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 600 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,944 in the state - that's 20% usage.

7,230 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 672 cases, 102 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+13 cases from Sunday)
  • Accomack 996 cases, 59 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+3 cases from Sunday)
  • Northampton 262 cases, 34 hospitalized, 27 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Hampton 241 cases, 37 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+3 cases from Sunday)
  • Norfolk 668 cases, 82 hospitalized, 7 deaths (+8 cases from Sunday)
  • James City County 233 cases, 56 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Newport News 381 cases, 42 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+10 cases from Sunday)
  • Poquoson 12 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+1 case from Sunday)
  • Williamsburg 50 cases, 11 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • York County 93 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Portsmouth 386 cases, 58 hospitalized, 12 deaths (+11 cases from Sunday)
  • Gloucester 38 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 deaths (+1 case from Sunday)
  • Virginia Beach 899 cases, 108 hospitalized, 27 deaths (+9 cases from Sunday)
