VIRGINIA BEACH, Va, - A Virginia Beach City Councilman has tested positive for COVID-19, he posted on Facebook.

Councilman John Moss was re-elected to City Council in November 2018.

On Monday he posed to Facebook saying that after "a severe and persistent cough" he decided to get a COVID-19 test and it was positive.

Moss added that he is "very susceptible to bronchitis that often evolves to pneumonia." Initially he said he increased consumption of ginger, zinc, vitamin C, and honey with tea.

"I did share with some folks that I was feeling under the weather to explain why I was not attending a number of events, and coughing does materially impact your quality of sleep," he said.

With the positive test results Moss said he will continue to isolate for 10 more days.

"Given my susceptibility to pneumonia I do take all respiratory threats very seriously," he said.

The Facebook closed with Moss saying, "Again I appreciate more than you know the public expression of concern for my health. My biggest disappointment is not being able to attend the first week or so of the City voting rights act case in federal court that starts tomorrow."
