The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.
According to their website, there are now 344,345 total cases, 289,732 of which are confirmed and 54,613 are probable. There are 4,984 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 4,394 being confirmed and 590 being probable. The case numbers are up by 4,048, and deaths are up by 64 since Tuesday.
A total of 4,220,943 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia.
The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday, there are 2,366 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 341 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 2,707 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 9 more hospitalizations from Tuesday.
The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 17,940.
553 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.
330 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 1,033 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,008 in the state - that's 34% usage.
30,444 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
The percent of positive COVID-19 tests continues to be above the state average in all local areas except Western Tidewater (Suffolk).
Virginia Beach continued to see over 200 new COVID-19 cases and had six deaths since Tuesday.
