Virginia Beach, Norfolk continue to see highest daily coronavirus case increases in region

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 62,787 total cases, 60,124 of which are confirmed and 2,663 are probable. There are 1,763 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,658 being confirmed and 105 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 598, and deaths are up by 23 sinceMonday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Tuesday, there are 547 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 355 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 230 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

98 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 615 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,034 in the state - that's 20% usage.

8,080 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 895 cases, 130 hospitalized, 20 deaths (+8 cases from Monday)
  • Accomack 1,042 cases, 71 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+3 cases from Monday)
  • Northampton 269 cases, 40 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+1 hospitalization from Monday)
  • Hampton 328 cases, 41 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+12 cases from Monday)
  • Norfolk 915 cases, 105 hospitalized, 9 deaths (+26 cases +1 hospitalization from Monday)
  • James City County 263 cases, 58 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+5 cases from Monday)
  • Newport News 523 cases, 44 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+10 cases from Monday)
  • Poquoson 19 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Monday)
  • Williamsburg 60 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+4 cases from Monday)
  • York County 115 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+0 cases from Monday)
  • Portsmouth 482 cases, 68 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+11 cases from Monday)
  • Gloucester 49 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 death (+1 case from Monday)
  • Virginia Beach 1,176 cases, 118 hospitalized, 29 deaths (+31 cases from Monday)
  • Franklin City 51 cases, 3 hospitalized, 2 deaths (+1 case from Monday)
  • Isle of Wight 179 cases, 16 hospitalized, 8 deaths (+1 case from Monday)
