Virginia Beach sees 157 new coronavirus cases as Virginia daily cases rise by nearly 1K

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 71,642 total cases, 68,814 of which are confirmed and 2,828 are probable. There are 1,968 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,861 being confirmed and 107 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 972, and deaths are up by 2 since Sunday.

Virginia Beach reported the highest increase in daily cases of 157. The two deaths reported within the state were also out of Virginia Beach.

Newport News followed behind Virginia Beach in daily reported cases with 96 from Sunday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Monday, there are 663 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 466 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 243 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

105 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 614 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,977 in the state - that's 21% usage.

9,330 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 1,326 cases, 157 hospitalized, 22 deaths (+73 cases from Sunday)
  • Accomack 1,041 cases, 72 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Northampton 274 cases, 41 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Hampton 544 cases, 40 hospitalized, 4 deaths (+56 cases from Sunday)
  • Norfolk 1,588 cases, 129 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+40 cases, -1 hospitalization from Sunday)
  • James City County 361 cases, 58 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+20 cases from Sunday)
  • Newport News 815 cases, 49 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+96 cases, +2 hospitalizations from Sunday)
  • Poquoson 22 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+2 cases from Sunday)
  • Williamsburg 82 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+4 cases from Sunday)
  • York County 168 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+8 cases from Sunday)
  • Portsmouth 714 cases, 86 hospitalized, 19 deaths (+28 cases from Sunday)
