The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.
According to their website, there are now 118,809 total cases, 113,623 of which are confirmed and 5,186 are probable. There are 2,568 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 2,435 being confirmed and 133 being probable.
The case numbers are up by 1,217, hospitalizations are up by 52 and deaths are up by 18 since Friday.
Locally, our Virginia viewing area saw 254 cases, 7 hospitalizations and 6 deaths from Friday's total update. Our area made up 20.8% of Virginia's total case increase and deaths were seen in Newport News, Virginia Beach and Suffolk.
A total of 1,555,487 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia. Virginia's COVID-19 percent positivity rate sits at 6.9%.
The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Saturday, there are 791 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 310 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 1,101 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's the same number of hospitalizations from Friday.
The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 9,512.
245 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.
131 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 584 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,100 in the state - that's 19% usage.
14,957 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
