The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.
According to their website, there are now 166,828 total cases, 156,439 of which are confirmed and 10,389 are probable. There are 3,457 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 3,209 being confirmed and 248 being probable.
The case numbers are up by 690, and deaths are up by 24 since Sunday. There were 5 deaths reported in 3 local cities: Suffolk, Hampton, and Chesapeake. There were 72 local cases that made up roughly 10.4% of the state's total increase.
A total of 2,398,111 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia. As of Monday, the 7-day average for percent positivity in the state is sitting is at 5%.
The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Monday, there are 689 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 283 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 972 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness.
The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 11,882.
210 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.
81 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 584 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,678 in the state - that's 22% usage.
19,096 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
