The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 221,038 total cases, 198,142 of which are confirmed and 22,896 are probable. There are 3,942 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 3,629 being confirmed and 313 being probable. The case numbers are up by 3,242, and deaths are up by 4 since Sunday.

A total of 3,161,059 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Monday, there are 1,130 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 382 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 1,512 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 43 more hospitalizations from Sunday.

The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 14,096.

351 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

152 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 792 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,952 in the state - that's 27% usage.

23,253 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

"Any time you see increases it's of concern," said Brian Martin, the director of the Masters of Public Health Program at EVMS. "I know everyone is tired of it, but we can't let our guard down."

The CDC is recommending people don't travel this Thanksgiving, something health officials hope people will be take into account. "Doing things virtually and being present that way is certainly far from ideal, but it's certainly much better than seeing a family member in the ICU," said Martin.
