CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Loose livestock shut down the interstate Tuesday afternoon.
Reports say that a truck was pulling a trailer with livestock on Interstate 64, in Chesapeake when the livestock, a cow, was able to get loose from the trailer and jump off uninjured!
The cow continued down the interstate for over a mile, causing a backup in eastbound and westbound lanes.
Officers were able to guide the animal off the road to safety. Around 1:45 p.m., State Police said troopers secured the cow and were awaiting on animal control. As of 3 p.m., the cow is now back with his owner.
VDOT cameras showed a large police presence and a huge backup of drivers around 1:30 p.m.
