CURRITUCK Co., N.C. - Class was canceled Thursday for students at Currituck County Middle School due to a power outage.

Officials say that a car crashed into a pole and caused a widespread outage.

The school sent out a release to parents which stated, "We recognize that this message comes as many of you are leaving for work and some students may have already been picked up by the bus. Any student who has already been picked up by the bus will be brought to CCMS and arrangements will be made to return students home or be picked up."

Crews have been working on repairs all night, reports say. At one point, more than 800 customers were without power.

Power was restored at 11:38 a.m. Thursday.

There are no further details at this time.
