ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - White and purple balloons were released into the night sky Saturday evening in memory of Javona Jones.

Elizabeth City Police say Jones was found dead inside a home on Monday after fire crews responded to a fire on the 600 black of Southern Avenue.

Friends and family came together to pay their respects with balloons, candles and prayers.

They set the candles on the steps where friends say she once lived.

Elizabeth City Police are still investigating and urge anyone with information to this incident to please call them at (252) 335-4321 or the Crime Line at (252) 335-5555.
