Florida man killed in early-morning Norfolk crash

NORFOLK, Va. - A Jacksonville, Florida man was killed in a crash on I-264 early Friday morning, according to the Virginia State Police.

According to a release by the department, 59-year-old Robert John Scott was traveling in the westbound lanes of I-264 when he lost control, sideswiped the jersey wall and over-corrected. The vehicle crossed all lanes of traffic and struck the guard rail on the right shoulder.

Scott was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Alcohol was not a contributing factor, and Scott was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Notification has been made to Scott's family members.
