Game on! Suffolk Parks & Rec to hold 2 sports team-themed Senior Drive-Thru Parades

SUFFOLK, Va. - Senior citizens who live in Suffolk: Your local parks & recreation department misses you!

Suffolk Parks & Recreation will hold its inaugural Senior Drive-Thru Parade on Wednesday, September 23 and Wednesday, September 30. Everyone 55 years old and older is welcome to join.

This month’s parade theme is your favorite sports team. Drive through the Recreation Center parking lot while representing your favorite team with a hat, game jersey, face paint or face mask - and feel free to decorate your vehicle, too! Teams may be a professional, college or high school team.

As you cruise by, staff will welcome you while staying safe and socially distanced. They'll take your picture and provide a Game Day goodie bag (while supplies last).

There will be two opportunities to participate:

  • Wednesday, September 23 - Whaleyville Recreation Center, 132 Robertson Street, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 30 - East Suffolk Recreation Center, 138 South 6th Street, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Participants will be asked to in their vehicles. You are advised not to attend this event if you or anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to others who have experienced those symptoms within the last 14 days.

Social distancing of at least six feet will be required. You are asked to bring a mask for each person in your party to be used anytime social distancing of at least six feet cannot be maintained.
