Gloucester, Va. – Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society kicks off the Top Hats and Tails Matching Gift Challenge, and the organization intends to raise $170k in monetary donations from December 21, 2020 to January 31, 2021.

The challenge is inspired by the Giving Period traditionally held during the annual gala and auction, and this year, the GMHS team will double donations from supporters as a gift.

As an added bonus, donations will be 100% tax-deductible due to the CARES Act.

Monetary donations made to GMHS by January 31, 2021, are eligible to be matched. Donations may be made via the organization's website, phone (804-693-5520 ext. 307), and mail (P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, VA 23061) are eligible.

GMHS Board President Richard Crowder believes every potential donor wishes to be assured their donation is not only appreciated but used effectively.

"The generous donors who have committed to this match, while anonymous, are all longtime supporters of our mission and very knowledgeable of how any donated funds will be used at GMHS. We hope folks will seize this opportunity to join them and us in saving even more lives," said Crowder.
