YORK Co., Va. - Stop all crime now. That's the message from the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office.

On Friday, the local law enforcement agency made a simple request on Facebook asking criminals to take a break during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“Due to the #COVID-19 pandemic and its contagious nature, the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office is asking that all criminal activities and nefarious conduct cease until further notice. We appreciate your anticipated cooperation in halting crime & thank criminals in advance. We will update you when you can return to your normal criminal behavior,” the sheriff’s office wrote, adding the hilarious hashtags #SocialDistancingNow and #behaveyourself

As of Friday night, the post has almost 3,000 shares.

Even as our local law enforcement officers are taking the necessary precautions to keep themselves safe while continuing to serve the community, they're bringing much-needed humor to these tough times.
