Governor Glenn Youngkin on Wednesday declared the month of May as Foster Care Awareness Month.

The governor also signed two bills impacting foster care. One breaks down bureaucratic barriers to allowing families to open their homes to foster care. It allows homes studies to place children into foster or adoptive homes and to transfer between localities in Virginia.

The other bill provides free university housing during breaks for student who have aged out of the foster care system.
