HAMPTON, Va. - A deputy with the Hampton Sheriff's Office tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to a statement from the department.
The deputy was assigned to the intake and booking area.
According to the Hampton Sheriff's Office, the staff member was non-symptomatic while at work and the sheriff's office is considered to be low-risk.
The sheriff's office said it is taking precautionary measures and following the Hampton Health Department's guidelines of self-monitoring.
