Hyde County reports first coronavirus case as North Carolina nears 10,000

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving coronavirus cases within the state.

As of Wednesday, there are now 9,948 cases, 551 people hospitalized and 354 coronavirus related deaths.

That is 380 new cases and 12 additional deaths from Tuesday.

A total of 118,440 people in North Carolina have now been tested.

98 counties in North Carolina report having coronavirus cases.

Health Director Luana Gibbs announced the first official laboratory confirmed case in Hyde County.

The individual is in isolation, reports say. Communicable Disease staff conducted contact tracing, identified individuals who may have had close contact with the individual, and implemented quarantine recommendations and orders.

To protect the privacy of all individuals, no further information will be released.
