NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Learn how to change the world...all from the comfort of your own home. How does that sound?
April 20-23, Unreasonable Kids, a Newport News program teaching kids to solve social issues through entrepreneurship, is facilitating a series of virtual meetings with successful entrepreneurs.
Ateba Gaines, the founder of Unreasonable Kids, tells News 3 her students have been meeting virtually with executives all month, including people at companies like Nike and the NHL, virtual conferencing software called Zoom.
Gaines says they've been able to ask questions and learn to great success so now she's opening up the opportunity to kids and adults everywhere.
"When do you ever get access to top leadership like that? This is a very important opportunity for kids," said Gaines. "They learn in my class, but this has been a very rich experience for them."
Among the entrepreneurs making themselves available are Claudia Romo Edelman, Founder of We Are All Human, an organization that promotes diversity and inclusion, documentary filmmaker Damon Kwame Mason and Shireen Hafeez, Founder of Deaf Kids Code, an organization bridging social and economic gaps of children with hearing loss through computer science.
