NORFOLK, Va. - They've made a career out of helping people and this weekend, local police and firefighters are doing just that...with skates on.
Don't worry...they'll be on an ice rink.
The 11th Guns N Hoses charity hockey game is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at Scope Arena in Norfolk.
Local police will make up Team Guns and local firefighters Team Hoses with each team playing for a charity dedicated to helping local children; The Benjamin Goldberg Foundation and Edmarc Hospice for Children.
Based in Portsmouth, Edmarc is the nation's first hospice for children and aims to give seriously ill kids a comfortable experience at home.
The Benjamin Goldberg Foundation works with Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters to provide therapies that improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Doors open at the Scope at 2 p.m. and the puck for Guns N Hoses drops at 3 p.m. The Norfolk Admirals will play at 7:30 p.m.
A $15 ticket is good for both games. Guns N Hoses t-shirts are also available for $15.
Country artist Chase Payne will be providing music for the event and there will be police and fire vehicles on display, along with free ice cream, mascot McGruff and a bomb squad robot.
