Man charged for hit and run incident in Elizabeth City arrested

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - A man has been arrested and charged after a hit and run that happened on September 24.

24-year-old Manuel Guadalupe Gonzalez was arrested for Felony Hit/Run with Serious Injury, for the collision that involved a pedestrian, on Weeksville Road near Herrington Road.

On Monday at 8:45 p.m., officers were patrolling the 200 block of Native Dancer Court, when they said they noticed Gonzalez exit a vehicle. Officers took Manuel Guadalupe Gonzalez into custody.

At the time of arrest, police said Gonzalez had additional outstanding warrants for Possession of Marijuana up to ½ ounce, Speeding, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Gonzalez was processed at the magistrates office where he received a $27,000 secured bond, and was taken to Albemarle District Jail.

Manuel Guadalupe Gonzalez has a first appearance in Pasquotank County District Court on Thursday, October 29.
