HAMPTON, Va. - The Hampton Police Division is searching for a suspect after a man was found dead after a crash in the 200 block of Marcella Road Tuesday night.

A call for a crash came in at 8:48 p.m.

Police told News 3 the driver hit a parked car in the parking lot. Officers who were on scene unsuccessfully tried to render aid to the driver, who died on scene.

Authorities discovered the man was suffering from a gunshot wound and are still trying to determine whether he died from the crash or the gunshot.

Kantrell Deshun Thompson, a 28-year-old Hampton man, has been identified as a suspect and is wanted in connection with this incident. Thompson has warrants on file for murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, shooting into a vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation remains ongoing.
