NORFOLK, Va. - A Navy helicopter squadron from Norfolk spent part of February training with Air Force Special Tactics operators in Florida.

The training is part of the annual Emerald Warrior exercise hosted by Air Force Special Operations Command at multiple locations, including Florida, New Mexico, and Mississippi.

The Air Force says the focus this year aligned with the National Defense Strategy and includes competing against near-peer adversaries.

In addition to U.S. forces, partner nations Lithuania and France also took part in Emerald Warrior.

Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Nine, stationed at Naval Station Norfolk, was involved. Air Force Special Tactics operators conducted hoist and fast-rope operations with MH-60S helicopters from HSC-9 as well as other water operations.
