PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Navy medical staff are helping the Navajo Nation reservation in New Mexico and Arizona treat COVID-19 patients right now.

About a dozen nurses and other staff were deployed at the request of the Department of Human Services.

They've been working at the Northern Navajo Medical Center in New Mexico alongside civilian and U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps healthcare workers.

Navy medical workers are able to treat up to eight patients at one time in the COVID-19 positive ward.
