INDIANA — They may be from Canada, but that doesn't mean they don't sometimes need help in the cold.
Some concerned citizens called the Department of Natural Resources in Indiana on Monday after finding a Canada goose stuck in frozen sand along Lake Michigan.
DNR contacted the Porter volunteer firefighters who responded to the scene.
They were able to extract the trapped bird and take it to a wildlife rehabilitation and veterinary facility.
The goose is finally loose and recovering.
