Man charged in connection to Newport News double shooting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police in Newport News are investigating a double shooting in the 800 block of 22nd Street that left two female victims injured late Monday night.

Officers responded to the area around 10:31 p.m. They arrived to find the two victims with what appeared to be non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

They were both taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police arrested 24-year-old Tristin Overby, Tuesday in reference to the incident. Police says he was charged with two counts of malicious wounding, one count of damage to property, and one count of shooting in public place.
