NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - In a YouTube video released Friday night, Newport News Public Schools thanked staff members for their hard work during the pandemic.
School Board Chair Douglas Brown made the following announcements:
- All employees will receive a bonus of $750 (pre-tax), which will be deposited February 12.
- Staff who were slated to receive 3% raise for FY21 will see the increase reflected in payroll checks for March. Staff in director-level positions and above who were slated to receive a 2% raise will also see the increase reflected in their March payroll.
- Compensation adjustments for teachers and salary scales will also be processed next month.
- Experience adjustments for specific staff groups as outlined in FY21 budget will be processed in April.
