NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The City of Newport News is holding a Juneteenth Flag Raising ceremony at 1 p.m. on June 12.
The ceremony includes the reading of the Mayoral Proclamation by Mayor Phillip Jones, singing of the Black National Anthem and keynote remarks by poet and author Nathan M. Richardson.
The City says the Juneteenth flag will remain flying over city hall until sunset on June 19.
