NNPD Assistant Police Chief retires after 25 years to accept position in North Carolina

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Newport News Police Department has announced Assistant Chief Mike Hudgins is now retiring after 25 years of service to the department.

Wednesday is Assistant Chief Hudgins last day at NNPD Headquarters before his retirement on December 31.

Officials say he has accepted the position of Chief of Police for the Pineville Police Department in North Carolina.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the department will not have a traditional retirement celebration.

NNPD wishes the best of luck to Hudgins and his family and says he will be missed!
