Norfolk Animal Care Center asks for public's help ahead of precautionary shelter closure

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Animal Care Center is asking for the public's help in getting as many animals as possible out of the shelter before it, along with all of Norfolk's city offices, closes as a precaution during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a Facebook post by the shelter, due to the closure, no volunteers will be allowed to enter the shelter from March 16 through March 30.

Adoption fees have been reduced to $20 from Friday though the close of business on Sunday.

"Want to help but can't make a permanent commitment? Foster!" the shelter's Facebook post read. "You can take a dog home on a temporary basis."
