NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk Public Library is expanding its collections with the help of a $5,000 donation from The Friends of the Norfolk Public Library.

One portion of the donation will be used to purchase additional copies of currently popular books, which will help to reduce hold times.

Another portion of the money is being used to purchase access to new fiction and nonfiction eBooks and eAudiobooks for all ages that address social justice and activism.

NPL’s digital collection is available here. The digital collection allows readers to browse, sample, place holds and download directly to a computer or digital device.

The digital collection is free for all Norfolk residents, Norfolk property owners, Norfolk business owners, and those who are employed in Norfolk. Other Virginia residents can access the digital collection for an annual fee of $35.
