North Carolina confirms 1,857 coronavirus cases, 16 deaths

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,857 cases of coronavirus in the state as of Thursday, April 2.

Sixteen people infected with the coronavirus have died, the department said. The total number of completed coronavirus tests is 28,679.

Wednesday, families who receive food benefits were provided extra benefits in response to the coronavirus pandemic. A family of four would be eligible to receive a total of $646 for March and April regardless of their usual benefit amount, according to officials.
