The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving coronavirus cases within the state.
As of Saturday, there are now 83,793 cases, 1,093 people hospitalized and 1,499 coronavirus related deaths.
That is 2,462 new cases and 20 additional deaths from Friday, marking the state's highest one-day increase in cases. Hospitalizations are also at a record high, a statement from NCDHHS said.
“Record-high numbers like today are concerning," said NCDHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen, M.D. “We all have a responsibility to one another to wear a face covering, avoid crowds and wash our hands often to get our trends going back in the right direction.”
A total of 1,176,058 total coronavirus tests have been completed in North Carolina.
