NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority was awarded with over $400,000 from the U.S. Department and Urban Development.
HUD awarded the NRHA with $478,500 to hire and retain service coordinators to help residents achieve economic and housing independence.
$36 million has been awarded nationally to public housing agencies, non-profit organizations, resident associations, and tribal grantees according to NRHA.
Funding helps NRHA hire and keep employees who work directly with residents to assess needs and get them connected to other programs in the community.
NRHA is an important key program in the community as it its the largest redevelopment and housing authority in Virginia, NHRA reports.
