NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Virginia State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on I-64 in Newport News that left a Hampton man dead late Wednesday night.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-64 east of Route 17 (J. Clyde Morris Boulevard) around 10:30 p.m.

According to police, the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer, 31-year-old Ryan S. Miller, attempted to enter the interstate from Route 17 when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail. Upon striking the guardrail, Miller overcorrected into the eastbound lanes of traffic where he struck a 1999 Peterbuilt tractor trailer traveling in the eastbound lanes.

Due to the force of the impact, the Chevrolet Blazer overturned, ejecting Miller and catching on fire. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
