CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Recent shootings in Chesapeake inspired a prayer walk through the community Saturday.

Pastors, church members and civil leaders gathered at the Cathedral of Faith church to lead a prayer walk in solidarity for those whose lives are at risk for gun violence.

They say they want to send the message they will tirelessly defend their vision of seeing safe streets in their community.

“We've had two shootings in this area. Two young men have lost their lives. And just pray and believe God is saying, ‘No more killings in their area.’ We believe prayer changes things. We are here together to march to say to God that we are praying; that we believe that you are going to make a change in our community."

Those taking part met on the church's steps and walked to the Hunter's Pointe community.
