NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian Monday afternoon.
According to police, officers responded to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 11700 block of Jefferson Avenue around 1:27 p.m.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
The driver involved in the incident remained on scene.
Southbound Jefferson Avenue between Thimble Shoals and J. Clyde Morris Boulevard is now reopened following a brief shutdown for the investigation, police say.
Police are still investigating the crash.
