Police investigate after man injured in Newport News shooting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Monday morning.

Around 12:15 a.m., Newport News police responded to the 300 block of Pear Tree Court for a report of a shooting.

When police got there they found a 27-year-old Newport News man inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police said he was taken to a local hospital for treatment of an injury that was not believed to be life-threatening.

The location of the incident and circumstances surrounding it remain under investigation.

No suspect information is available at this time as police investigate.
