Police: Woman dies after becoming pinned underneath vehicle in Virginia Beach parking lot

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A woman has died after being pinned underneath a vehicle in a Virginia Beach parking lot on Friday.

Police say at 9:57 a.m., dispatch received a report of an incident involving a pedestrian that took place in the parking lot of a medical facility located at 933 First Colonial Road.

An officer was nearby, and police say they arrived on scene within a minute of being dispatched.

That officer assisted medical personnel in administering CPR, but their efforts were unsuccessful and the victim, an elderly woman, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim had gotten out of her vehicle without placing it in park. The victim was struck by the vehicle, becoming pinned underneath it.

This case is being investigated by members of the Virginia Beach Police Department's Fatal Crash Team.
