A local Congressman has announced his full support to object electors during the January 6 joint session to count electoral votes for the President and Vice President of the United States.

Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA 1st District) announced on Facebook his support to object electors in order to "debate and examine evidence of election results" in states where Constitutional questions have been raised.

Wittman says in December he joined other Republicans in sending an Amicus Brief to the Supreme Court in reference to Texas v. Pennsylvania, et al. relating to the November general election.

On Saturday, 11 Republican senators and senator-elects announced they will reject electors from "disputed states," call for a commission "to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in those states," and for the states to call a special legislative session "to certify their vote in a manner consistent with the findings of the commission’s audit."

The senators have continued to claim incidents of voter fraud despite several state and Trump administration officials saying they haven't found evidence of widespread voter fraud.
