PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Portsmouth Police Department were searching for a prisoner who had escaped police custody on the morning on February 20.
Officers took 45-year-old Angela L. Young into custody and took her to police headquarters on an active warrant for a probation violation. Around 11:30 a.m. while she was sitting in a holding room waiting to be processed, police say Young was able to remove her handcuffs and flee on foot.
Young has now been charged with felony escape (without force).
On February 26, the Portsmouth Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit with the assistance of the Chesapeake Police Department were able to locate and apprehend Young. She was turned over to the Portsmouth City Jail, reports say.
